Sick of Pi/Pie yet?
Yeah, me too.
So I made cookies! Well, Pie Cookies. As a foodie, I feel I should celebrate big Foodie Holidays. If this isn’t one, just pretend it is, okay? Give me a little leeway.
I made these little Pies yesterday after my first Cookie Decorating Class. I just confiscated all of the left over icing and colored it to make these silly little cookies. I would love to be able to show you some pictures of the class…but guess who forgot to take any?
Ah hemmmm.
And then guess who remembered to take some, and staged a photo op with a couple of the students, and then those pictures were blurry?
So, you will just have to take my word for it – my students were masters, even if ONE of them would use some questionable techniques with her icing while my back was turned…almost as if my husband were there, except not quite that obnoxious. (Just kidding A – you were great!) I really was impressed with how quickly they embraced the concepts of striping, dragging, filling – they were adventurous and I loved it! I only hope they feel like they learned a little something. So, class, if any of you are still reading my blog – let me know? Is there something you wish you would have learned that I didn’t teach you? Any advice you can offer, since you were my first class? I’d love to know!

Anyway, back to the pie cookies. I just used a round cookie cutter for the full pies, and a knife for the slices. I decided to make a full latticed cherry pie, as well as one with a missing slice, and then, of course, the slice itself. (Yes, those are RedHots!) I also made a slice of Key Lime Pie with meringue, and finally, a blackberry pie with a missing slice.
And there you have it. A Pi Day full of cookies. Or Pie. Or whatever.
Excuse my demeanor…it’s the time change. You remembered it, didn’t you?![]()

Love this idea. When I saw the thumbnail, I was like that pie looks interesting…only see they they were pie cookies
I never have time to take photos of/during my cooking classes either!
These pie cookies are adorable! I have a blog round up going on for Pi Day Pies and would love if you would add your post. http://houndsinthekitchen.com/2010/03/14/pi-day-pies/
Happy Pi Day! Adorable pie cookies. SO cute! Susan, you’re good. Damn good.
Those are truly fabulous!
Those cookies are super cute!
Those pie cookies are so cute!!
I wish my cookies OR my pies looked that nice! I like the pie filling so much I tend to overfill my pies… and then they LOOK all messy but BOY are they DELICIOUS!
I do love this idea though; I’ve never really thought of making one dessert that actually looks like another. Very cute!
Those are so adorable. We just made a regular pie for Pi day. Very creative.
Adorable!
Super Cute! I love Pi Day. In high school, our algebra/calculus/every math teacher would let us have a huge party celebrating the extraordinary number. I always brought a butterscotch pi, and sang the pi song…a remake of Celine Dion’s titanic song.

Love these! The class yesterday was so much fun. I look forward to the next one!!
These are just fantastic!
These are hilarious – they remind me of living in Japan where there is quite an obsession with making food that looks like other food, especially candy that looks like things like sushi. Cute!
What a great idea, they look fabulous!
What a cute idea!!
what I missed pie day? I was caught up on johnny apple seed day… should have know the two are synonymous.
Class was a blast!!! I went home and decorated 4 more dozen cookies because I was soooo into it!!!!!!!!!! Cookie decorating is addictive!
I LOVED your cookie class, learned a lot, loved the tips and tricks, enjoyed the fever of copying other classmates’ ideas when they weren’t looking, and left feeling like I had a new notch on my belt or star in my crown or something masterful like that! And yes, “A” was a bit rambunctious with her decorating, but she certainly gave us something to laugh about! So sad you didn’t take pics of her “techniques!”
(I can say that. She’s my daughter!) Thanks for a great class!
Your pie cookies here are darling – very clever!
Thank you Pam! You were a great student! And – to steal an idea is to learn an idea. You go with it!

Too cute! Here it is March 16th and I realize I have once again missed pi day. I scheduled “make pie” in my 2011 calendar so maybe I will remember next year.
I can’t believe how creative you are! Way too cute:)
