Chocolate Popcorn & Pretzel Raisinet Treats

in chocolate, Snacks

Sometimes you just need a quick, easy, indulgent treat.  Not a dessert exactly. Nothing involving an oven or a mixer or a blender.

Rice Krispy Treats were a great example, back when we were kids.  But let’s face it…we aren’t kids anymore.  We’re women (and men, Brer Matt, and the one other man who reads my blog), and we need chocolate.  Grown up chocolate, like semi-sweet or dark.

This Popcorn and Pretzel Raisinet Bars meet those needs.

One pot, one pan.  You can handle that, right?  Now, I’ll admit, you’re gonna get your hands a little sticky, but that’s okay – you can sample as you go.  Consider it a benefit package. Speaking of benefits…one of the benefits of being a blogger is being exposed to some great companies and contacts, like Nestle.  Nestle makes Raisinets. And can you believe that Nestle has hired me, yes, ME, to create some Raisinet recipes?  Yep, I work for Nestle now, creating and testing recipes. This wasn’t really one of them, but it was too good not to share, so here you go!  Enjoy!

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 15 minutes

Yield: 16

Ingredients

  • 7 ounce jar Marshmallow Fluff
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 12 ounces Nestle Dark Chocolate Chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 6 cups (1 average bag) Microwave Kettle Corn Popcorn, popped
  • 1 cup Raisinets
  • 1/2 cup pretzels, broken into small pieces

Instructions

  1. Prepare an 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper, leaving extra to hang over two of the sides for easy removal. Set aside.
  2. Heat marshmallow fluff, chocolate, syrup and vanilla over medium low heat until well combined. While heating, pop the popcorn, remove all unpopped kernels, and place in large mixing bowl.
  3. Remove chocolate from heat and add to bowl of popcorn, stirring to combine. Coat well. Stir in Raisinets and pretzels. Mix well.
  4. Press the coated popcorn into the prepared pan. Allow to cool, then cut into 2 inch squares.

Ooh, I *NEED* these. Like now. Of those ingredients, I have the kettle corn and vanilla.

I do have a bag of cheap leftover halloween chocolate.

I don’t think I have enough to even approximate.

I don’t have any parchment paper. This might be worth making a mess in a pan. This blog isn’t called doughMESStic for nothing.

You know, it would be a lot easier if your blog had a Buy It Now button, and 30-minutes-or-less delivery.

I would tip well.
