Strawberry Mish-Mash Popovers

Good morning!  Ready for your weekly dose of Popovers?

(No, it’s not Thursday, but I am featuring Strawberry Mish-Mash Popovers today anyway. Surprise!)

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Plum Organics, to see if I would be up for the challenge of creating a family (and kid, especially) friendly recipe featuring one of their organic products.

Let me halt you right there.

I know, and you know, and I know that you know I am not an all out Organic Gal.  It’s just not something I fret about. I rarely get up on a soapbox or choose sides when it comes to things like that.  Maybe I should, I don’t know, but I pretty much consider myself the average American consumer.  I think I sway to the more “natural” shopping cart – meaning – I leave Food Lion with more fresh fruits and veggies, eggs, flour, milk, etc., and less of the pre-packaged convenience meals.  But… you’ll still find Velveeta Shells and Cheese and Oreos in the cart, too, so, there you have it.

I’m average-ish.

Now – all that being said – I do understand parents wanting what they feel is best for their little ones.  Plum Organics has stepped in with a really creative line up for babies and toddlers that are made from organic fruits and vegetables – and in flavor combinations I full on did NOT expect.  As an added bonus, the littlest of kids can feed themselves.

Yes, really.

No glass jars, no peeling back tin foil lids – just twist off the colorful lid, hand the kiddo the squeeze pouch, and send them on their way.  No more mess in the back seat of your car, no need for a spoon, no interrupting their gaming.  Bingo . So clever.  Other companies are doing the same thing, but Plum has really stepped it up in their flavor department.  Strawberry Applesauce, Peach, Banana – and that’s not even getting in to the veggie pouches.  Last night Seven had a Purple Roots & Fruits pouch for dessert.  Dessert!

But…let’s get back to these Popovers.

I decided to incorporate the Strawberry Mish Mash pouch into a popover recipe, and I was delighted with the result.  Seven loved them, too!  They were made in the same fashion as always – whip the wet, add the dry, bake them up…and eat!

For the quick, painless, and tasty recipe, please head over to the Plum Organics Kids Cookbox, where my recipe is being featured today.  Keep going back, too, as every Monday through Thursday throughout May there will be a new blogger recipe featured there.
