Seven is about to start Kindergarten.
I don’t know whether to be happy about that, or to sit in a corner and shake.
On one hand, I imagine all the time I will have to do my work during the day…blogging, photography, answering emails – all on NORMAL business hours versus in spurts throughout the day and into the night. I imagine being able to actually cook dinner. To clean the house and keep it clean. To sit down and watch a television show.
But I do have a very overactive and optimistic imagination.
We’ll see what happens.
What I do know is that wow – there’s a lot of stuff we have to buy to send him off to school. Apparently, kids no longer just lick each other and eat glue all day until third grade, as we had to buy a TON of very specific equipment. 4 boxes of crayons. Scissors. Backpacks and Clorox Wipes and TEN glue sticks. Ten? I’ve had ONE gluestick in the junk drawer for about 6 years, and I have yet to find a good use for it. So TEN?
Needless to say, I’m curious, but I am in no way offering to help out as that teacher’s assistant.
Last week in addition to all of the mandated school supplies, we bought Seven’s Fall/Winter school wardrobe. His grandmother (my mom) took him school shopping one day on her own. They came home with? A towel, for naptime, some skinny jeans, a lunchbox, 2 Wii games, and two pairs of black shoes trimmed in red.
Because he liked them, and because one pair came with a comic book. My God, things have changed since my mom took ME school shopping. Wii? Comic book shoes? Really?
So, off we went a couple of days later to find some additional non-black and red tennis shoes.
Famous Footwear has quite a deal!
We were able to get in and out in less than half an hour, and picked out two really cute pair of shoes. Sure, I wanted shoes for myself, but I held off and did the right thing. For once. It was hard, though! The store is chock full of great deals and different varieties – men’s, women’s and kids…so plenty of goodies for everyone in the family.
