National Lemon Meringue Pie Day…and Happy Birthday Julia Child!

by doughmesstic on August 15, 2012

in Giveaways, Julia Child, lemon, pie, round up

I adore lemon meringue pie.  Piles and piles of glorious white meringue, toasted to perfection, tangy yellow curd…it really doesn’t get much better.  So, not wonder someone smart petitioned to make today Lemon Meringue Pie Day…I can’t blame them one bit.

Unfortunately, I am a slacker, and due to a new cookbook (yes, really), a few large wedding cakes, a conference to plan, and a kindergartner to prepare for school – well, I didn’t have time to make a pie to share with you today.

But wait!  I can make up for that!

Here are links to a couple of my own Lemon Meringue creations, plus a few from internet friends I thought you’d enjoy (and they do look incredible, don’t they? What talented folks there are on the web!)  Which one would you make?

How about I give one of you a little something in honor of Julia Child’s 100th Birthday?

(It’s okay if you didn’t know it was her birthday…I’ll forgive you.)

I participated in the celebration of Julia’s birthday by contributing to the JC100, a group of bloggers, chefs and restaurants that prepared recipes from Julia’s amazing cookbooks throughout the summer.  I’ve never had one of her recipes fail me…ever.  Yes, they are a little more time consuming, but you really do get what you give.

SO I want to GIVE.  To YOU.

Let’s give one of you a set of Julia’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking.  It’s worth it’s weight in gold, I tell you.

Mastering the Art of French Cooking (2 Volume Set)Would you like to win?  Just leave me a comment here, letting me know you’d like it.  That’s all you need to do!  If you’d like an additional chance to win, just Tweet a link to this giveaway, and leave me a separate comment letting me know you did. I’ll randomly choose a winner on August 22, 11:59pm EST and get it shipped out to you via Amazon.  US Addresses only, please.  Prize is courtesy of Doughmesstic.com.

Good Luck!
