I’ve become quite the salad person. Because I have opted to live a low carb lifestyle, I find myself eating salads very regularly – sometimes twice a day. Luckily, restaurants tend to have a great variety of options, from deluxe and creamy Chicken Caesar Salads, to light and fresh tossed salads with nuts and fruit and sweet vinaigrettes.
Maybe you are like me, and you sometimes balk at the $14 salad price tag, thinking – I could so make this at home cheaper.
And yeah, you maybe could. But…who wants to cook the chicken, toast the nuts, chop, dice, mix? By the time you buy all of the little things that make it taste great, you’ve probably overspent. And while you have more than enough for one salad, you really just wanted ONE salad.
Well…in steps my friends at Dole.
I mentioned in a post a bit ago that I was a guest of Dole in North Carolina recently, to tour their research facility and to sample ALL of the new products they’ve been working on.
My favorites, by far?
They are salad kits…PERSONAL salad kits. They are inventive and smart…and SO easy. There’s no reason not to eat a healthy lunch – it’s all packed up and ready to grab! These creative kits even include a fork and wetnap, and the box makes your bowl. All of the ingredients, from the greens, to the dressing, to a mix in, to nuts and grains and other yummy toppings, are at the ready and waiting for you to mix and devour. They come in 4 great varieties:
My favorite is the Chicken Caesar, but all are so delicious and full of flavor! Best? Instead of $14, it’s under $5. For a complete lunch you can feel great about!
Some of the other new products we tried were the new and improved celery (yes, less stringy and what a crisp bite!) and some new salad kits, like the Chopped Pomegranate Salad Kit. It’s so crunchy and bursting with flavor, and I adore the included pomegranate vinaigrette. Yum!
