Wedding Cakes

image Recently featured in the prestigious Roanoker Magazine as part of the Proctor Wedding held at Mountain Lake Hotel. The rustic, yet elegant Proctor Cake was part of a dessert bar, and all items were our creation, including Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cupcakes, Triple Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake, and a selection of autumn pies amongst other tasty desserts. All wedding cakes are designed with the couple in mind, and sketches are drawn and approved as part of the booking process. No two cakes are ever the same, and therefore no quote can be given without an initial cake design. This can be done via email, though pricing for custom wedding cakes starts at $3.75 per serving for buttercream, and average $5.00 per serving for fondant covered cakes. Delivery fees may apply, and can be made up to 4 hours away. Tastings are available upon request, for a nominal fee. Wedding Cakes in June, July & August are a minimum of $500.

Some of our recent wedding cakes…

Many dates are booked a year in advance, but we will make every effort to accommodate your special day if at all possible. Please email for more information and date availability.  Please note – Saturday Weddings in June-September  incur a minimum fee of $500 per cake, regardless of size.

Groom’s Cakes/Special Occasion Cakes

Many couples are opting to have a specialty cake for the Groom in addition to their wedding cake. Sports themed, hobbies, or the grooms occupation are often the feature behind these Groom’s Cakes. Please email for availability. Pricing will depend entirely on the difficulty and design of the cake. Most cakes start at $3.50 per serving.

Birthday and special occasion cakes are also available. Bridal Showers, Birthday Parties, Girl’s Night Out, Baby Showers…no event is too large or too small. Please email for more information, or call Susan Whetzel at 540.632.2577.

Did you make, design and decorate all of these cakes Susan? They are fabulous. I have just started venturing into decorating cakes with fondant this year (other than a very simple Christmas cake each year). I did a cake for my nephew’s Christening this Summer and a 40th birthday cake for a close friend last week. Still quite simple designs, but I am learning, and really enjoying it.

I did, thanks! I am self taught, and I think you’ll find it’s a great way to learn. I love cake decorating, and it has led to a lot of opportunities for me. I hope it does for you, too!

Just wandered here from hell I don’t even know- the last stop was Quarterlife Crisis. You’ve done an amazing job here- is this all self taught?

Well, howeverthehell you got here (haha!) I’m glad of it! And yes, this was all self taught. It’s really not all that difficult. We have the internet!
