New Product Review…A MUST for Mommies!

You may remember me asking the Blogosphere about the PeaPod Plus Travel Bed in an earlier post…and while none of you actually owned one, many of you thought the concept was a good one. Luckily, my Mom reads my blog and ordered this bed for Seven from our Amazon Wishlist, and it came UPS just in the nick of time for us to take on our jaunt to Raleigh this weekend.

I’ll admit that at first, Seven was NOT a big fan of this tent. It wasn’t his fault, though – he had never seen it, had slept in the car for 3 hours before seeing it, and we just kind of tossed him in it and walked away. Do Not Do This. I knew better. How would I like being treated that way?

So, the next night, we open it up in the room where we are watching TV and throw toys in and let him play in it. He loves playing in giant cardboard boxes, and the tent was no different. Later that night, we put him down and he slept all night in it without a hitch. So – yay!

There are way too many great things about this bed. First off, the weight. As you know, Pack & Plays are great, but they are HEAVY and cumbersome. Taking one on a plane would be hellish, and I won’t even consider it. This PeaPod curls up into a travel bag and weighs only a couple of pounds. (It’s pictured above with the Sock Monkey so that you can see the folded up size of it.)No metal, no crazy instructions, just pop it open. It has a camp style air mattress that self inflates, and it slides into a pocket in the underside of the tent…making it quite comfortable. It also has a blanket style pad for the inside of the tent. The sides zip closed making the night safe as the kiddy can’t escape it – and it’s just like a tent in that it can be fully closed or you can upzip “windows” so that they can see out and you can see in. Very nice.

As for the size, well, I would have to guess that this tent would still be useful up until maybe age 5 or 6. For reference, I can get in it, curled up, with Seven in there with me.

Overall, I am more than pleased with this great product. If you intend to travel anywhere this holiday season, especially on a plane, and you don’t want to have to lug the heavy Pack & Play, this is a GREAT alternative. I am thrilled to have found it and know that it is the perfect thing for going abroad. I also think that it would be ideal for taking to the beach…it would provide both shade and ventilation for a tired youngin’ who’s had a bit too much fun in the sun. Easy clean up, too, as you could just pick it up and shake it. If that didn’t work, hose it off. It’s a very forgiving material, and the inside pad is machine washable. Easy enough.

Interested? Click through here. It comes in Blue Camo (like Seven’s), Red & Blue, or Princess Pink. They make a smaller one, too, though I am not sure why anyone would buy it smaller…it will certainly get more use in the larger version. If you decide to buy this, please let me know what you think of it, too. I would love to know.

On a side note, I was shopping last night for comfy, yet cute (and decent priced!) shoes to wear around Italy as well as here. I like shoes that slip on and off pretty easily, and have some give in the sole. These Columbia Kaci’s come in several colors and are on a HUGE sale. Originally hovering in the $70 price range, you can snatch these up for a mere $20.99 right now by clicking through the link below. I’m excited to get them! (I ordered them in White – the black ones are pictured…and I like them, too!) FYI – most anything bought right now from Amazon Direct (it will say in the product description it it qualifies) will qualify for the $20 Off of $125 Promo. It will be automatically added when you continue to the check out!
