Nutella Raspberry Popovers with Fresh Bananas

Mmmm, Nutella.

nutellapopovers-1

Today’s popover recipe is my first published chocolaty popover. And what better way to start than with Nutella?

Usually, I put sugar in my popovers. Brown sugar, white sugar, molasses. Something. Not today. I relied on the sweetness of Nutella and Raspberry Pie filling. That’s right – pie filling. Not only is it IN the popovers, I drizzled it over the top. Chocolate syrup, too.

Good grief. It almost hurts to type that. Sounds like a dessert, doesn’t it?

I haven’t even mentioned the whipped cream and bananas yet.

Decadent. Delicious. Breakfast.

Makes you want to get out of bed early, doesn’t it?

Nutella Raspberry Popovers with Fresh Bananas

Rating: 5

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 25 minutes

Total Time: 30 minutes

Yield: 12 mini or 6 large popovers

Ingredients

1 scant cup milk
3 tablespoons Nutella
3 tablespoons Red Raspberry Pie Filling (I used Lucky Leaf)
3 large eggs
2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
pinch of salt
1 cup flour
3 tablespoons butter
Whipped Cream, Pie Filling, Bananas & Chocolate Syrup, to top

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375F. Divide the butter into the cups of your Pop Over Pan. (If you don’t own one, you can use a muffin tin, but you will need to use all 12 cups. Just divide the butter up evenly) Place the pan in the oven for 3-5 minutes while you are making the batter.
In medium bowl, beat the milk, Nutella, and pie filling until smooth. Whisk in eggs, vanilla and salt, then whisk in the flour. Pour the batter into the butter filled cups. Return to oven for 5 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350 and continue to bake for another 20 minutes. Drizzle with more Raspberry Pie Filling and Chocolate Syrup. Slice bananas, and add whipped cream, if desired. Serve and enjoy!
