Done and Done
So today I finished Course One of the Wilton Cake Decorating Series. Course Two starts next Tuesday. Geez. I feel like I am back in school again, except it’s more fun. And, I am the ONLY person in class. Well, at least I was for Course One, and it looks to be the same for Two. So whatever. I get to learn more – one and one attention and all.
Now, let me get this out. Dear Lord, I do hope she doesn’t make the blogging circuit, but there are two things this instructor says that gives me the old nails on a chalkboard feeling.
One is Spatchuler. Like, the thing you ice a cake with. Spatchuler. SpatulAH I want to say to her. You are an instructor…please?? But I bite my tongue. It is things like this, petty as they are, that make we want to just quit, for fear of losing it and saying something outloud that may offend. I do not want to be that person. I will not. She’s the only person in the tri-county area offering a class, so shuuussh, Susan. Get over it.
Second is confectionary sugar. Is this just an old Southern thing? Perhaps I am too judgemental on this one. Confectioner, confectionary. But still. It irks me.
She may have others, but these are the two that come up entirely too often in a cake decorating class. Nails. Chalkboard. Ugh.
So anyway, here is a look at my final cake. It’s only a 6 incher, so that’s why the roses are so close to the edge. I know the colors are a bit funky, too, but I am cheap and these colors were already mixed from when I made Seven’s Monkey Birthday Cake. So here is a picture of IT, too. It had fondant ears, and they were the first thing Sev decided to eat. Yuck. I hope that next year Mommy will be more adept at making cakes…I’m sure all will agree that both of these cakes are a far cry better than that First Cake EVER post, so now it all depends on if I can get past the whole spatchuler thing and become a cake decorating guru. 🙂
