Summer Kick Off
Seven gets out of school today for the summer.
At 11 freaking A-M.
Could we not have just driven the kids there about 9, mopped their mouths with cheap Kool-Aid and wrote on their clothes with markers while in the car line? Everyone knows there is PLENTY of time in the car line.
Because it NEVER MOVES.
And then, we’d just make the loop and go back home to bed.
Easy. I should run for something.
Instead, as soon as I pick him up, I am running to Jon’s parents, where we will drop Sev off for a couple of days while Jon and I run the Tough Mudder.
And die.
Nah, we won’t die. We will just wish we were dead, I imagine. 12 miles in 95 degree heat and 130% humidity?
Sounds like a great way to spend 6 to 19 hours. Luckily, we are starting the race on Saturday, and it is also run on Sunday. We can just sleep in a mud pit or something overnight and finish the next day on Obstacle Number 4.
I so want to actually FINISH, y’all. I do. I don’t want to skip any part of it. I want to attempt it all. Heck, I even went to the park this week and practiced the monkey bars. Sweet Jesus when did that get so hard? Ouch my hands. And arms. And that flabby section under my arm pits. Just ouch.
But I am going to do it. And I am going to do it in adorable lululemon pants, sweet little arm sleeves, a bandana, and a shirt that reads “Never too late to be who you might have been”.
And once I survive, I am going to leave straight for Las Vegas.
Truth. I am booked from Sunday to Friday at the MGM. And I may even carb load the whole week after the race, because that sounds like a good idea. Vegas is the place to do it. It’s also the place where I get my hair cut every 3-4 months, and this time is no exception. I’m thinking shorter this time, but I’m skeered. Anyone offer suggestions on what would suit my face/build? I am at a loss. I go get it cut, I come home looking much the same, every time.
Help.
The weekend I get back from Sin City, my family reunion is in town, then the next day, Sev is going to his first ever sleepaway camp for a WEEK.
I intend to put all that pent up crying energy into emptying out my house. Gone. Everything must go. I just can’t tolerate it anymore. The guest room is a breeding ground for un-putaway clothing and workout gear. The laundry room is a disaster. The kitchen? Let’s not even.
So it’s all going. Yard Sale at the Whetzels. No set schedule, just come buy stuff-CHEAP- as I carry it out to the lawn. That simple.
Once Sev is picked up from camp, we are headed out to the Cabin for a week. It’s time to take my baby ducks to the pond, where hopefully, they will survive. They will be about 11 weeks old, and they are big birds, and it’s just time. I’m just not sure my heart can take it.
They are BABIES. MINE. Sigh.
Melanie, my lovely girlfriend, and her handsome man will be coming to join me at the cabin that week, then party with us for the 4th. FUN! No Crying About Ducks! (right.)
A trip the next week to North Carolina for a Girls Week (yep, still with Mel!) is in the works, followed by the next week in New York City. Then a week later, another mud run. (Yes, I know. I don’t know what I am running from, either.) A week after that, I am in Northern California. Then straight to Florida.
Then school starts.
Wait, what?
Yeah…welcome to that life your parents moaned and groaned about as you were growing up. You know the life. The “This year Is Going By SO FAST” life.
Slow it down.
Slow it all down. I’m not ready yet.
