YWPWT – Last Christmas I Gave You My Tart
Welcome to the Holiday Edition! Anne Strawberry chose Holiday Songs as our theme this month… and I am so excited to see how everyone interpreted a favorite song into a pie!
As for me, as soon as I saw the words Holiday and Song, for whatever reason, WHAM popped into my head and I couldn’t shake it – ALL MONTH. You know the tune – Last Christmas, I gave you my heart, but the very next day, you gave it away…
Well, I give you my TART. If you recall, the song involves running into a cheater. Ouch. You’ve done it again…this pie is made with Dorie’s Chocolate Shortbread Crust and filled with – a cheater – box brownie mix. I used only one egg, milk instead of water, and a stick of melted butter versus oil. I also added gobs and gobs of chocolate syrup. It’s pretty good, overall…not the best Tart ever, but neither is George Michael. So here you go, complete with lyrics to help with the interpretation. Sit back and enjoy…there’s even a video at the end.
Once bitten and twice shy, I keep my distance, But you still catch my eye.
Happy Christmas…I wrapped it up and sent it, With a note saying “I love you” –I meant it
Now I know what a fool I’ve been…But if you kissed me now, I know you’d fool me again.
(kind of literal, I know, but I got the kiss in there!)
This year, to save me from tears, I’ll give it to someone special. (This part is my favorite. I gave it to someone special!)
Now – go see the other pies!! This boy’s MINE!
