Seven Day Scramble…March 13
I am caked out, people.
Between planning the RockHer Blogger Bash (which is quite honestly a full-time job) and the massive cake weekend I had, I am just about pooped.
Pooped, I tell you. (and not in the potty pooped, either…I’m STILL changing Seven’s dirty diapers. But that’s beside the point.)
Last night around midnight, I finished up the last of this weekends four big cakes. None were simple – each had a theme, a story, or a massive size. But they were a fun challenge, and I do like making different things.
Just maybe not all at once.
This Week’s Cakes
I believe I enjoyed the dinosaur cake the most. The house was empty, as Jon was playing poker, and Seven was having a sleepover at the grandparents. So I had a quiet house, and no one to chase me away from watching The Notebook and The Other Boleyn Sister while I sculpted the T Rex. Not too scary, not too childish – hopefully perfect for a dino loving 5 year old.
Here’s a little peek at the T-Rex as I made him, from the beginning, when he was just a shaped rice cereal treat, to the point where he was covered in a mix of modeling chocolate and fondant, to where he was hand painted with gels and luster dusts.
And here is a look at another of the other weekend cakes – a first birthday based on a paper plate being used for the party…
Other Happenings from This Week
Other happenings – I mentioned the RockHer party. if you haven’t registered to go – DO IT. We are running critically low on spots being available to attend, and you will definitely want to attend! Just take a look at the sponsors already lined up – and keep checking back because we are in talks with some BIG NAMES you’ll certainly recognize!
Don’t forget to enter to win the KitchenAid Stand Mixers – the contest ends on Tuesday night, and you still have plenty of time to enter and get all of your friends to help you both win one! Hurry now….
In case you missed it, Monday was a huge day around here, with my posting of Buffalo Chicken Pot Pie. It’s been getting a lot of attention, and for good reason – it was delicious! If you haven’t taken a look, here is a link for you…
Upcoming Week
Lots of things cooking at Casa Doughmesstic this week – from more potstickers, to a quick and easy (but ridiculously good) doughnut dessert, to brownies topped with too much goodness to even tell you about. I also have a large order of giant St. Patrick’s Day Cupcakes for a local restaurant to deliver – Hopefully I can get the recipe posted here for you by Thursday morning so that you have time to make them to celebrate later in the evening!
What are YOU doing this week? Anything good?
