Michelob Ultra Light Cider
I am not a good drinker. Not good at it at all. And, being who I am, I tend not to want to do things I’m not very good at.
Like cleaning, for example. I’ve tried…just not very good at it. So I don’t do it anymore. Of course, Paula claims I am an OCD linen closet arranger, since my towels are all facing the same direction and are color matched, but still. Not a cleaner.
But drinking? Since I am not a very social person, it makes it even tougher for me in social situations to not drink. Silly, but I’ve always wanted to be one of those people who laughs and tells funny jokes while sipping on a longneck, thinking it tastes as good as a Diet Coke.
I’m not funny though. And longnecks are filled with beer, which I don’t like the taste of, and well, nevermind. You see my dilemma.
Luckily, I discovered Hard Cider. This I can drink. It’s not all hoppy, all manly, all wheaty and such. It’s fruity, and that I can handle. I’ve tried a few that I am pretty smitten with, but they tend to be seasonal, making it a little tougher to get. They’re also a little heavy. Better than beer, but still kind of strong.
Enter Michelob Ultra Light Cider.
It’s new, but their goal is to make this one available year round. Crisp apple flavor, which is nice, and perfect for summer. Not heavy like beer is. Plus, it has less calories (it has 120) than hard ciders, and less calories is always a good thing in my book.
It really does have a nice apple flavor (it’s made from hand-picked apples), and it’s not too sweet. Almost like a sparkling wine? Well, I drank mine from a wine glass anyway, with a little ice, and that made it nice. Of course, it was equally good out of a mason jar. I’m not particular, and besides, what with the Hatfields & McCoy mini-series being on last past week, it just felt right to drink from a canning jar.
