Holiday Cookies, Cards, and Traditions
I am horrible at sending out Christmas Cards. It’s atrocious, to be quite honest. I’m just no good at it.
I adore getting them – especially the ones with photos of the family, or even better, the newsletter updates letting me know how everyone has been doing.
Not everyone is on Facebook, you know. I can’t stalk everybody. My family is vast – I am one of 17 grandkids (just on my Mom’s side), and it’s impossible for the stasher in me to keep addresses organized. So, it never fails that December rolls around and I am scrounging around looking for addresses, calling Mom for ones that are missing.
And let’s not even talk about friends. Since becoming a blogger, I have umpteen gozillion friends I would like to send a card to. I feel like I know so many of you, just from your comments and twitter conversations, even if we may not have met. Yet! And then those of you I HAVE gotten to meet? Well, I love all of you. Seriously.
She may not know this, but one card I look especially forward to getting every year is from Jamie at Sticky Feet Part Deux. We’ve not met, but I hope that changes soon! Jamie and I started blogging around the same time, and I just love her, and watching her family grow. Back in 2008, when I was just a blogging baby, Jamie offered me some great advice, and I’ve never forgotten it. It was also that same year that I created the perfect holiday cookie, and now, I want to share it with you, just like Jamie shared with me.
Citrus & Lavender Holiday Cookies.
Soft, chewy, full of subtle lavender and popping with the punch of lemon and orange. They even smell like Christmas.
Now, perhaps you are scrolling down already, looking for that recipe. Getting a little anxious, are you?
Eyes on the Prize, kiddo. I’ve got good news.
