The Four Seasons Miami…and Edge

I do love the Four Seasons Hotels.  The Four Seasons Miami is no different.

I get to travel a lot. I bet you’ve noticed.

My Skymiles Account has noticed.

My suitcase has noticed.

They know me by site at my local airport. They know I don’t have an underwire. They know I like tall boots. They know I travel with the Delta App – no paper boarding passes for this chick. In fact, I was actually the very first person to EVER use the Delta mobile boarding pass in the Roanoke Airport. Yesssss. I think they intend to name one of the 4 terminals after me. I should at least get a plaque, even if I have to sneak one in there and hang it myself while no one is looking. Not that I have considered that. Much.

Anyway…I travel a lot.

It’s something I expected, back when I owned a travel agency – the getting out and going. But as a Food Blogger?

Not so much.

Expectations are overrated. I travel more now than I ever did, and in much better style.

Take for example, getting to spend a weekend in Miami, courtesy of the luxurious Four Seasons.

The Four Seasons Miami

Located in the more business end of town, and no, not on the beach, the Four Seasons Miami is the epitome of class, functionality, and grandeur, without being fussy. The front desk staff was more than helpful, providing directions to their favorite eateries within walking distance, and what I thought a touch of class? They didn’t push the onsite restaurants. They told us where THEY grab lunch.

I can take advice from folks like that.

After a quick bite from down the street, we returned to the hotel to find out room was ready early, and for me that was awesome news. I love getting an early check in, don’t you? It’s like winning some sore of little lottery. I get giddy.

Giddier is walking into a giant suite on the 27th floor.

The Hotel

A corner suite, no less, with windows everywhere offering stunning views of the city, the Bay, and the pools down below. Our living room (pretty massive!) had a couch, a large TV, a two sided work desk, and plenty of cushy amenities. The bedroom was also stellar – a huge King bed, plenty of seating, and oh, the pillows and linens. I adore white linens. Crisp and clean and cushy cushy cushy. I could have napped all day…but we were surprised by a wonderful treat – a plate of desserts to celebrate our anniversary, and the fixings for mojitos.

They don’t miss anything at the Four Seasons.

We spent the better part of the afternoon downstairs, soaking in the Florida sun by the turquoise pool and hot tub, which was… Heaven. A pool boy, with enormous towels and cushioned loungers. Drinks coming by at the perfect intervals. Hot, bubbly water from the spa. Yes…

Heaven.

After our outdoor time, I retired to the giant bathroom, complete with huge soaking tub, separate glass shower, and comfy robes.

I soaked. I did. I got all kinds of pruny. That’s one heck of a tub, let me tell you. It was perfection. Or so I thought.

Edge – The Restaurant

It was later that evening that I experienced TRUE perfection. At Edge, the hotel’s restaurant.

Sweet mercy and goodness. The food. I apologize for the poor photos, but it was really dark in there…and the ambiance was awesome. It made up for the poor pictures, I think.

I went in hungry, knowing I wanted to really savor the meal…but nothing could have prepared me for what I was about to experience.

Appetizers. More appetizers. Entrees.

We should have left after consuming all of that goodness, but how can you leave when the Pastry Chef hand delivers THREE desserts… And the most gorgeous ice wine you’ve ever tasted?

That would be rude.

So we ate all 3.

All were fantastic, but one took the cake. I intend to recreate it here at home, and share it with all of you. After I use it to win a competition. So…you’ll sadly have to wait.

So sorry. I know, I know. So unfair.

But if you are anywhere near Miami, I highly recommend the Edge, and a night or two at the Four Seasons. You will most definitely NOT be sorry!
