National Moscato Day…Strawberry Pink Moscato Sorbet

Being a food blogger is good stuff sometimes.

Like last week, when I was invited to the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills for an amazing lunch, and sat mere feet away from Harry Connick, Jr. Or like last year, when I became friends with Duff Goldman, and he offered to write the foreword to my cookbook. Or like when someone contacts me to review wine.

Really.

Gallo Family Vineyards asked ME to sample their Moscatos – plural! – and let you know about them. The standard Moscato (you know I like that), their Pink Moscato, and a new one for me – Red Moscato. As I am a fan of anything sweet, these are all right up my alley…and even better, these wines are only about $5. Five bucks.

Yessss.

But, not only did I drink them, I decided with the onset of spring, it was an okay time to bust out the ice cream maker and get it spinning….with a sorbet made of Moscato.

Very wise decision.

You should try it, too!

  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1/2 cup Dixie Crystals granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup Pink Moscato Wine (I used Gallo Family Vineyards)
  • 1 cup heavy cream

  2. Place puree into ice cream maker and follow manufacturer’s instructions. Freeze and enjoy!

The Gallo Family Vineyards love their Moscato so much that they petitioned to have May 9th be the official celebration day of all Moscatos…and this is the second year! It’s so light, fruity, and well, fun – I have to say I can’t blame them one bit for making a holiday of it!

If you are out on Thursday, pick up a bottle of this great Moscato, and then swing by Twitter at 9pm EST to join me and some other great bloggers for #gno, where we will be tweeting away with @GalloFamily to celebrate National #MoscatoDay. You should come by!

For more info on Gallo Family Vineyards, you can find them on Twitter and Facebook.

Hope to see you Thursday night at 9!
