Chocolate and Orange Peppermint Bark

There is no holiday treat more simple than Peppermint Bark.  Not Peanut Butter Balls, nor fudge, nor pinwheels – or even Puppy Chow.  Peppermint Bark not only looks impressive, it also tastes impressive.

And this variety of bark does NOT disappoint.

If you have about 7 minutes, you can have this made, and then just let it cool off…if you can bear the wait.

Chocolate & Orange Peppermint Bark

Makes 1 –  9×9 inch pan

  • 8 ounces Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips, melted
  • 8 ounces White Chocolate Chips, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Pure Orange Extract
  • 1 teaspoon Peppermint Extract
  • 6 Crushed Candy Canes

Stir the Orange Extract into the melted Semi-Sweet Chocolate, making sure to combine thoroughly. Pour in silicone pan, or, regular 9×9 inch pan lined with parchment.  Allow to cool in fridge while preparing the white chocolate.

Melt the white chocolate and add the Peppermint Extract, again, stirring to thoroughly combine.  Stir in about half of the crushed candy.  Pour the mixture over the layer of Semi Sweet Chocolate, being careful not to stir the layers together, as it will create a marbled effect.

While White chocolate is still warm and melted, press the remaining crushed candy canes into it.

Allow bark to cool in refrigerator until set up.  Remove from pan and cut or break into pieces.  Keep in container with lid until ready to eat.

This would make a great little gift for those people on your list that you need a little something for – like the Mailman, or your UPS driver (you know he’s there a lot, Bloggers!), that special teller at the bank…they would love a little tin of this bark!

Now, what’s your favorite (and easy!) go to holiday treat?  Please share a link to it here in the comments. I’m up for some holiday cheer this year, and what better way to get it than in my kitchen?!

Thanks…I look so forward to what you have to say!
