I was recently invited to have a few friends up to my house, courtesy of Collective Bias. I say courtesy because they supplied us with enough money to buy some ingredients and containers so that we could join forces and make several freezeable meals. For Just In Case Days. You know those days. The days […]
Seems like I get a lot of them. So, in stubborn fashion I decided to do a round up of deliciousness from one of life’s source of sour. It may not cure what ails you, but at least it will taste fantastic. Lemon Meringue & Fresh Raspberry Cheesecake, from Doughmesstic Click through for MANY MORE! […]
I love movies. To choose my favorite would be like having to choose a favorite child (ya know, if I had more than one.) How do you choose? I love The Goonies. I love Say Anything. Out of Africa. Shag. Sixteen Candles. The English Patient. Dirty Dancing, Mallrats, Oceans 11. I love movies that make […]
A few weeks ago, Jon and I took a short jaunt to the mountains for some much needed Us time. Out adventure led us through the backroads of Route 8, through Floyd, Virginia, to the Blue Ridge Parkway past Chateau Morrisette and Mabry Mill. Several scenic views later, we pulled on to the gated property […]
I recently did a dessert bar for a beautiful bride at Mountain Lake Resort, a hotel you may be familiar with from the movie Dirty Dancing. It’s stone walls, mountain setting and the wonderful fall foliage made for a very quaint and charming venue, and I was thrilled that the bride chose a rustic […]
This is a sponsored review by BlogHer and Ghirardelli. CONTEST IS OVER. If you won, you’ll have a note in your mailbox! I could […]
Pickles. Pickles. Pickles. And today is THE Official Day of PICKLES. My husband Jon is the Pickle Master of our house, and his QUICK Cilantro Bread & Butter Pickles are just about the best thing I have ever eaten that comes out of a jar. No joke – they are good stuff. But, everyone has […]
Just for fun, I thought I’d post a few of my Hokie Inspired desserts. My favorite has to be the latest 3D Hokie Bird popping up out of the cake! Do you have a favorite? Which one? Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Drunk yet? Me neither. But after reading all of these Bourbon posts of mine, I can see how you might be a little bit tipsy. It’s all for good reason though – cooking with bourbon has crossed me over into a whole new world. Chicken. Carrots. Cookies. Cake. Pie. It seems no matter what you […]
Did you know I’m not a drinker? I’m not. Not really. I’m no good at it, and I tend not to want to do things I am no good at. That rules out drinking. It’s not that I am against it, or a prude or anything, I just don’t really care for it. However, plop […]
Six Bourbon Distilleries in 3 days. I’m just here to tell you, it CAN be done. I did it, along with my sidekick, Jon. We left out early on Friday morning, headed to Kentucky and it’s famous Bourbon Trail. Its a little over 6 hours to drive there, but we made it with time to […]
It isn’t often that my husband, Jon, is influenced by a food in such a way that he feels the need to recreate it. These Jalapeno Bites are an exception. He came home one day from work, raving about an appetizer his friend Adam brought in. Cream cheese filled jalapenos. I’ll be honest – I’m […]
