I guess it still feels like summer in many places, but if it were ME that got to choose the national day of ice cream cones? I’d shoot for July 15. It’s always hot on July 15. Or 16. Sometimes around there. But, no one asked me, so instead, I’ll just post a few […]
I really hope you are fairly local today, because you are in for a treat…an amazing idea, right here in our own backyard. Stafford Art Glass, run by glass artisan Parker Stafford, is located in scenic Newport, Virginia. I had no idea it existed until I was playing around on Facebook one day, and saw […]
Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you had fantastic weekend. Here, the weather was gorgeous, unseasonably warm, sunny skies, and the smell of Hokie Football was in the air! It worked out for us that we could take Seven to the game, so of course, he had a great time. (That is, after we bought […]
I’ll admit it. Dorie Greenspan is responsible for making me the baker I am today. Now, maybe she doesn’t know this, because apart from a few Twitter conversations, an email or two, and some blogger chit chat, I’ve never met Dorie. Never spoken to her. I’m not what you would call a big Muffin Fan. For example, if I’m in line at a hotel breakfast bar, I’ll skip the muffin in favor of a bowl of Raisin Bran. Just not my favorite thing. But, like the characters on Seinfeld, I do enjoy Muffin Tops. (and not the gross kind.) I […]
Last Saturday Jon, Seven, and I piled into the truck on another “adventure”, as we tell Seven, to get him excited. Our first stop was the Roanoke Farmer’s Market, located in the heart of Downtown Roanoke. This bustling area, full of great little shops, quirky restaurants, and tables full of freshly grown produce has […]
Have you ever gotten a magazine, been flipping through, and then…BAM. There it is. The recipe. The picture. The one thing you MUST make immediately? Well, in the latest issue of Bon Appétit, I had that experience. Towards the back of the magazine, the picture of Christina Tosi’s Chocolate Malt Cake pulled me in. There […]
