Supporting a Cause
Imagine waking up tomorrow to the news that there is a natural disaster headed your way. A hurricane. An earthquake. A tornado. There’s nothing you can do about it…you just have to leave. And then, when the disaster has hit and moved on, you have to go home and pick up the pieces.
Your wedding album strewn about your old, unrecognizable neighborhood.
Your son’s velvet blanket hanging from a neighbors tree.
And you are here with nowhere to sleep, no roof, no water. No power. But you have to get through it and make it all okay again – for yourself, for your husband. Your kids.
Tide may not be who you were expecting to help you out, but there they are. A truck full of washers and dryers, on your street, waiting for your laundry so at least you have clean clothes to wear. Some sense of normalcy in this world of chaos you have found yourself in.
That’s right – Tide. As in, the detergent.
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the need for clean clothing became critical, and Tide found a way to help. So in November 2005, the Tide Loads of Hope truck headed to Camp Hope in the Metairie, LA area and cleaned over 10,000 loads of laundry. The spirit of this first venture informs and inspires everything Tide Loads of Hope program does.
Loads of Hope can use your help. Washing all that laundry doesn’t come cheap. Why not buy a vintage style Tee to help support their cause? You can buy one here, at the Tide Loads of Hope site.
You never know who you may be helping in the wake of a disaster. It just may be you.
