Tuesdays With Dorie…Grandma’s All Occasion Sugar Cookies
This week’s TWD recipe is Grandma’s All Occasion Sugar Cookies, chosen by Ulrike of Kutchenlaten. Perfect choice for the holidays..as I was planning on making some anyway.
These were simple to put together, dare I say easier than my own recipe? (yes, a bit) However, I do prefer a softer cookie and these were a tad on the crispy side to me, and that’s why I prefer my own recipe. Like I said, these were crispy-ish. Not like shortbread, which holds together, but more fally-aparty. Made them a little tougher to decorate. Well, it may not have been totally the recipes fault – my icing was kind of a miss. I just didn’t feel it. Too much other stuff going on to mess around with 5 different colored icings. So, it is what it is.
As you can see, to make up for not making all those colored icings, I decided to color on some of the white ones with my Edible Writers. No, I didn’t mean t get quite so detailed on a cookie. But the Boy was sleeping and theHub was playing PS3, so I played with the markers. I love those things. If you decide you want some (and you do…) then click on my sidebar where it says “All Things DoughMessTic” – that’s the link to be able to buy them. They’re really a lot of fun, and so easy to work with. Now…Why not check out what the other Dorie groupies thought? I bet you’ll find some pretty cookies there!
I may, MAY be missing next weeks recipe. Seems I have booked myself back to back functions, one dinner for 25 followed by hors d’oeuvres for 50-75 on Tuesday, and then a feast for 50+ on Wednesday night. So, if I miss Dorie, I’m sorry. But keep your fingers crossed for me. I need all the help I can get!
