Cookies and Dreams

I was going for a play on words there. You know, Cookies and Cream?

Okay, maybe it was funnier in my head. That doesn’t surprise me.

A week or two ago I wrote about what dreams of mine were coming true…namely, the publication of my first cookbook. It was several months of recipes testing, writing, retesting, rewriting, photographing, editing – you name it! I’m thrilled, anxious, nervous (what if it flops?), and desperate. Desperate to actually get my hands on it! I’m supposed to be getting my advanced copies any day now…eek!

In the next few weeks I am going to be looking for some guinea pigs willing to take a look at it and review it on their blogs. Are you interested? Do you even LIKE ice cream? I can’t promise anything other than a copy of the book, but I’d love someone to pipe up and want to give it a go…so leave me a comment here and I will do my best to get you a copy as soon as I have one. I wish I could send it to everyone, but I doubt my publisher would really appreciate my desire to GIVE everybody one.

Just guessing.

Anyway – in that same post I asked all of YOU what big goals and dreams you had as well. I honestly loved reading all of the replies! My lucky winner of a Quaker Prize Pack had some big goals, I tell you, and I hope she is able to get the ball rolling now that Quaker has awarded her a little cookie and money motivation! Get to moving!

In case you missed my introductory post about cookies, Quaker has realized their dream, too. Oatmeal Cookies. They finally have cookies on the grocery shelves, after YEARS of just supplying us the oats to make our own. And, while I do love to make my own, sometimes it’s nice to be able to just tear open a bag and Eat A Cookie. Tell me you are like this? I’m not alone here, am I?

So…How do I think they taste? They are fantastic! Soft, chewy, full of flavor. I refuse to say they are as good as mine, though. I have to have limits. Hehe.

As I mentioned in my previous Quaker post, my favorites are the soft oatmeal raisin. Each one is individually wrapped, which keeps them fresh until you are ready. This is perfect for us because they stay fresh and dry in lunch boxes and backpacks. Jon and Seven are really enjoying them in their lunches! (And I am enjoying eating them pretty much any time I want to. Not having an oven makes it hard to make my own cookies, so thank goodness for these!)

Quaker Soft Baked Oatmeal Cookies come in five flavors, including:quakercookies_thumb1
o Apple & Cinnamon
o Banana Nut
o Chocolate & Almond (pictured here, from Quaker)
o Cranberry & Yogurt
o Raisins

Soft cookies not your thing? They also make a Crunchy Oats Granola…so you’re in luck!

Grab a box and give them a shot – I think you’ll enjoy them!

Now – Seriously – if you have a blog and you are interested in reviewing my book, please let me know. I’ll try to get you a copy if I can!
