Kraft Recipe Starters: Noodled Pot Roast
I’m still impressed. Three boxes of Kraft Recipe Makes in, and I have yet to be disappointed. The boxes with two complementary sauces, ready to add to your meats, veggies, pastas, whathaveyou. It makes your weeknight dinner taste like you spent all day, when in fact, you really just threw it all together. I can handle that.
For this simple meal, I chose the New England Pot Roast Recipe Makers. Now, you are more than welcome to make your pot roast in a crock pot, roast in in the oven, buy it for all I care. But I am a big lazy brat. You see, it never fails that we have leftover steak after grilling or going out to eat. All you really need is about a pound for this, so, it’s not that hard to come by. If you are one of those meal planning, organizing, holy crap how do you DO that people, grill and extra steak or two the night before and then voila, you are all set. I used our leftovers from yesterdays brunch. Hey – they needed to be used. All I did was steam a few baby carrots (a pound, in fact). Then, I cut up a couple of green peppers and an onion, and sautéed them in a little butter. From there I dumped all of it together – the bites of steak I had cut up, the carrots, the onions, and the peppers, and stirred in the finishing brown sauce. I just held it on a low simmer while the pasta cooked. Now, the pasta. I used a funny shape, but you could use whatever you wanted – rotini or penne would be great here. Just cook up a pound of it, drain it, then stir in the simmering sauce. I used only about half the bottle, and that was enough for me, but you might like all of it – it’s your choice! To serve, I ladled some pasta into a bowl, then topped with my meat and veggies. Served with a little side salad, you are in business! If you haven’t tried them yet, I certainly recommend giving the Kraft Recipe Makes a try – like I said, they have yet to let me down! And, if you HAVE tried them, which one is your favorite? I’m making my way through all 9 flavors one by one!
