Tuesdays With Dorie…Chocolate Pudding

I have never made pudding.
Or at least I don’t remember ever making pudding. Not even the Jello kind…though I doubt very seriously Jello is quite as complex as the Dorie recipe.
Why does her recipe HAVE to involve a food processor?? Mine holds only 3 cups, and even halving this recipe wouldn’t have worked. So, what to do?? I made the full recipe, but did it with my KitchenAid and the whisk attachment. I wish I could tell you I had all these step by step pictures, but NOPE. It was chaotic, to say the least. There was no time to stop and even think about taking a picture. Not to mention, the whole time I was making the pudding, we were also in the middle of painting our newly dried out kitchen, which is something I detest with a capital EST. Yuck. I was also trying to be like Jayne, the Barefoot Kitchen Witch (also, my IDOL) and had a couple of loaves of bread in the works. Since she searched long and hard to find a recipe that would work for me, I of course needed to get to it when she did. So if you are looking for play-by-play pics of how to make pudding, seek them elsewhere.

I think the result of the pudding is probably about the same as those who are fortunate enough to own big mama food processors, but I do doubt I will be making this again.
There is a reason I have never made pudding before tonight…I just don’t think I like pudding. However, this pudding is pretty darn good compared to other puddings I have had. I think it would be really nice in a chocolatecrust, topped with piles and pils of whipped cream and those pretty little chocolate curls…and in another dimension I would have done that. Really. But this dimension, my REAL world, is just pudding in a mason jar.

Take it or leave it.

As you can see, my son Seven enjoyed it greatly. Call me names, call me a bad, bad mother for feeding a ten-month-old chocolate pudding. Go ahead. I can take it.

Now, go check out all of the other TWD posts…we ALL made pudding!! (But maybe one of them lives in another dimension, ya think??)
