Verizon FiOS…Have 25 Hours in Your Day.

Really? An extra hour in your day, to do whatever you want? How many times have you wished for it? (Tell the truth, I see all of you proclaiming your need for that extra time on Facebook and Twitter. It’s okay – we ALL have days when we just need a little more time.)

No, I haven’t lost my marbles. I’m just doing a the math.

As a blogger, I spend the biggest portion of my day on the internet. Contrary to non-blogger belief, it’s WORK. Researching recipe trends, staying on top of current foodie events, working with PR firms, social networking to keep our names out there, and working with advertisers – it isn’t just a walk in the park. And that doesn’t even include the time we spend cooking, photographing, editing the photos, and then actually writing the post.

Then we have to upload all of it.

But you don’t care about all of that, do you? You just want to read about the gooey marshmallowy brownies shoved full of cocoa and caramel. No, I don’t blame you for that. So why do I even mention it?

That extra hour I was telling you about. The 25th hour, thanks to Verizon FiOS.

As many of you know, my three year old, Seven, stays home with me. While I try to work. And he is rambunctious, just like a little boy should be. We spend a lot of time each day playing, but I also need to be able to do my job, so, I have to find ways to keep him entertained. While I am not an advocate for constant TV viewership, today’s children’s programming is much higher quality than it used to be. Dora teaches Spanish. Moose and Zee on Nick Jr. are always teaching letters, new words (like debonair, which I have heard a few times coming from Seven’s little mouth lately), and Team UmiZoomi teaches counting. I don’t have a problem at all with him watching these types of programs. And thus, instead of me sitting in the floor with flash cards for 30 minutes, I can call up an episode of one of these great shows on FiOS, and Mickey Mouse can teach him the same thing (in a song) that I would have been doing. That’s thirty minutes extra in my day I get to work, uninterrupted, for the most part, and reason number one Verizon FiOS makes my life easier.

Reason number two goes back to what I was saying earlier – the uploading of posts. Thanks to the ever fast lightning speed of FiOS, uploading my picture heavy posts is a breeze. No, it doesn’t save half an hour, but it easily reduces the upload time by half. Just as importantly, I can upload huge albums full of photos to Flickr or Facebook in record time. Don’t act like you aren’t put out by slow upload times to Facebook…an extra five minutes is an extra five minutes. I can eat an entire ice cream sundae in five minutes, so, I’m sure YOU have something you’d rather be doing with that time.

Reasons three and four are tied together. When’s the last time any of you with a child got to sit down and watch Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday, at 9pm, when it actually airs? Show of hands? I didn’t think so. With FiOS, you have your favorite shows available On Demand. But what if it isn’t a program that offers On Demand availability? Set the FiOS DVR. Now you can watch McDreamy and McSteamy whimper in the wake of their women before the kids get out of bed if you want.

Reason number five will easily gain you a good half hour a day, but probably much more. You can Tweet and Facebook directly from your FiOS TV. You can be sitting there, watching Hoarders and feeling pretty good about the cleanliness of you own house, and tweet about it from the Tube. No time spent walking across the room to your computer to do it. All of that back and forth adds up, folks. Save that 30 minutes and actually go to the gym and walk the treadmill, if you want the extra exercise. (That’s a good idea, I should follow my own advice.)

And there you have it. Five reasons FiOS makes life as a mom (and blogger) easier and gives you a few more minutes to do something better than wait. I could write another five, but I know you don’t have that kind of time. Maybe you should check out Verizon FiOS offers in your neighborhood!

Have a great weekend!
