Tuesdays With Dorie…Chocolate Banded Ice Cream Torte
Hey there TWD fans!
This week we made chocolate banded ice cream tortes.
I guess you could say that’s what I did, anyway. It was Ice Cream, there was chocolate, it was banded. It had the shape(ish) of a torte.
I’ll keep it short. I cheated all to snot. Instead of mixing anything at all into plain store bought vanilla ice cream (as Dorie herself suggests, BACK OFF) – I had to use store bought mint chocolate chip. Had to. I’ve been busy. The Cafe has kept me practically IN the oven, and when I am NOT baking, I am answering emails about GALS. And if I am not emailing, I am taking care of our Store. Or buying for it. Or whatever. Oh yeah, and then there is Seven. And my Wilton class. So I bought ice cream, or actually, my Mom did, as I was still in pajamas. Leave me alone.
Here is my TWD in a few simple steps:
So, 4 inch springform.
Layer of chocolate whatever you call it. I say ganache.
Layer of Mint Chocolate 3 Musketeers. Why not?
Layer of Mint Choclate Chip. It’s green.
Layer of ganache.
All with separate freezing cycles.
Take finished product out of freezer. Accidentally forget you did that.
Remember 20 minutes later you did that.
Remove from pan, watch green ooze and puddle on the counter.
Top with some leaves after cutting, add a peppermint patty.
Wish you had a little bit of natural light, but be happy that it is finally raining after 2 weeks without any.
Put photographed torte back in freezer. Eat it later, if you remember.
I doubt you will. You’ll be missing out though – it’s good stuff.
Now, go check out the real banded tortes. Next up – cookies, though I don’t remember which ones. Peanut butter and chocolate maybe?. Easy, I hope!
