Rustic Wedding Charm

besscakecutI recently did a dessert bar for a beautiful bride at Mountain Lake Resort, a hotel you may be familiar with from the movie Dirty Dancing.  It’s stone walls, mountain setting and the wonderful fall foliage made for a very quaint and charming venue, and I was thrilled that the bride chose a rustic elegance for her theme. Scattered about the tables were antique mason jars filled with bright wildflowers, branches and logs held place cards…there was even a huge table full of apples!

When it came time for desserts, she asked for a variety of cupcakes, some cheesecakes, and several pies, as well as a small slice cake.  What I came up with was a two tiered rustic frosting with a trail of fresh flowers cascading down the front and side.  It really fit the bill!

Here are a few of the excellent photos taken by the photographer Laura Matney, who owns Laura’s Focus Photography.  She does amazing work!

This is a beautiful place. Lived near it for 38 years. Of course when you go across the bridge you have to do the Baby dance lol. The food looked terrific and really suited the stlye of the setting. Great job…

Beautiful! I’m just getting ready to do the cake for my brother’s wedding in a few weeks. They have a similar rustic theme. These photos are giving me all kinds of new inspiration. Love it! Thanks :)
