Hexagonal Wedding Cake
It’s been a LONG day.
I judged a cake competition this morning, along with Brandi from Bran Appetit. That was at 11. After that, I came home, made royal icing, packed my cake decorating kit, and loaded two wedding cakes into the car to deliver
My first stop was the River Course, in Radford, VA. It was the contemporary cake I was live blogging yesterday…turned out really cool I think! I’ll post pictures of it in the next few days. Because right now, I want to share THIS one with you…
The hexagonal wedding cake I delivered to the Hotel Roanoke.
This was my first delivery to Hotel Roanoke, and I was so pleased to see such a gorgeous venue. The cake is unlike any I have ever done – intricate, finely detailed, and one solid color. In pieces, it was pretty. Stacked? Even prettier. But when I stepped back after spraying it with pearl luster, I was thrilled.
Now, I am typically happy with my final cakes. Not always elated, as I tend to be a bit hard on myself. But this cake?
LOVE.
Completely not my style at all…and yet, I adore it.
Here are lots of pictures of it…what do you think?
I’d love your feedback! Oh – and thanks to all of you who followed along as I did the Live Blogging yesterday, it was fun for me! Would you like more? Maybe more how-to videos as I go along? If so, anything in particular, such as rolling fondant, or covering a cake, or…? I’m all ears!
